The mountain is at the end of the Hüttwinkltals, the Hintertal of Raurisertals, the main Alpine ridge. The mountain is a mighty massif, with a characteristic rock pyramid on the top floor, and a mighty north face of Kolm-Saigurn. The highest peak of the Goldberg group is not the High Sonnblick, but the 3,254 m high north Hocharn standing.
On the steep peaks are in 3.106 m height a meteorological observatory, the Sonnblick Observatory, and an alpine hut, the Zittelhaus (also written Zittlhaus). At an altitude of 2,718 m is the Rojacher hut and 2,175 m on the shelter building. Both cabins are farmed in the summer months.
In the area of ​​Sonnblick there are historic gold mines, which brought the group to the summit Sonnblick named Goldberg Group. On the slopes today are the ruins of gold mining, Kulm Saigurn is an old mining town.
